About the Program
There are 3 programs that are being delivered by Abbotsford Recreation:
1. Drop -In
- Open Playtime (0-5 yrs)– avg. 30-40 participants/session (*much busier in the winter months). Runs 5 days/week from 10-11:30am
- Family Gym Time (2 yrs+) – avg. 30 participants/session (*again much busier in the winter months). Runs Sundays from 12-2pm.
2. Adapted Multi - Sport (Ages 2-5)
This will be done adapting Abbotsford’s ‘ Mix It Up Sports’ program already offered by the Recreation Centre, in which “participants will play a variety of sports such as hockey, basketball, soccer and baseball. Have some fun, meet some friends, and get some exercise.”
3. Adapted Sportball - Adapted Multi - Sport (Ages 4yrs - 7yrs)
This program was created by modifying and adapting the Sportball methodology to suit the needs of each participant. The instruction and approach are closely monitored and regularly evaluated. The children and young adults that participate in Adapted Sportball are able to enhance their physical and social skills, improve their self-image and self-concept, while developing their attention and listening skills. A wide range of sports (such as football, basketball, volleyball and baseball) will be incorporated.
